Talk about unique accommodations! With Petite Retreats, you can vacation in a tiny house, cozy cabin, yurt, tent, or tee pee, anywhere your heart desires. Spending quality time in the outdoors is priceless and your setting is just as important as your shelter. With that in mind, we are pleased to share our recent work for the Petite Retreats display at the New York Auto Show.
There was so much excitement seeing the houses travel down the bustling streets of Manhattan, watching them make their way into the Javits Center and seeing them get prepped for us to work our magic. Getting the houses to their spot was surprisingly simple thanks to the “imaginary path” created by the great coordination from the General Contractor, dock management, transportation department and assistance from various automobile exhibitors on the floor.
Going in, we knew that nearly 2/3 of the display area would be occupied by two tiny houses houses (Clara & Henry, to be exact) and a few Ford series trucks (F-150 and F-250) which were the mode of transportation for the houses on tour. This gave us a good idea of how much space we had to work with in order to bring the outdoors, inside and create a fresh air environment on the show floor. To replicate black top path ways, we used a black vinyl flooring which was the base of the setting. We topped this with an artificial turf for the outside perimeters which closely resembled natural grass, just begging for the presence of bare feet in the Summer. That said, no outdoor setting is complete without the accessories that invite friends and Family to gather around so we finished off the area with rustic Adirondack chairs surrounding a faux fire pit, a picnic bench and assorted shrubs and florals. It was then that attendees could get a realistic image of what a tiny house holiday would look like, no matter where their case of wanderlust took them next…
